ZINEB MEZZOUR

I was excited to spend some time with Zineb Mezzour in her Marseille basement studio, photographing her as she worked and learning about her influences. I loved everything about the space, the dust in the air, the smell of coffee and the feeling of clay on my hands reminded me of art school.

Zineb’s work sits in an unusual space where control meets unpredictability, the ink bleeding into water, clay manipulated, patterns forming and dissipating. Listening to her talk about about fractals and how they guide her work was fascinating to me and something I have noticed in the world around me since.
